Election Criteria

Officer Descriptions

The following descriptions are designed to help students understand the responsibility of each position before deciding to run for office. Descriptions are based primarily on the SAC by-laws (which are available in the Student Affairs Office). We have also included some of the projects taken on by each office in the past to give some sense of the time requirement.

1. President

  • Act as a spokesperson for the members of student body

  • Maintain relationship through regularly scheduled meetings with the Dean of Student Affairs

  • Act as a liaison to the Administration and the Faculty

  • Maintain momentum in creating student networking opportunities

  • Meet regularly with student club leaders

  • Serve as the student representative at GBA Joint Council Meetings

  • Insure that other SAC members uphold responsibilities

  • Other Initiatives: CSO Development, Alumni relations, Formal events

2. Vice Presidents

  • Serve as member of the Finance Committee

  • Act as a liaison to GBA clubs and administration to oversee the student clubs over the year

  • Call and preside over semester Club Council Meetings

  • Serve as co-chairs of the elections committee

  • Other Initiatives: Volunteer/Charity Events, Tarrytown Social Events, Coordinate Orientation.

3. Treasurer

  • In conjunction with the Finance Committee, responsible for the Coordinate all club budgets and expenditures

  • Meet with the Finance Committee once each semester to review and approve expenditures student clubs as well as SAC

  • Serve as Chairperson of the Finance Committee

  • Give final SAC approval for all expenditures prior to preparation of purchase orders, checks, contracts or petty cash (done in conjunction with Dean of Student Affairs and either the vice-president or president: multiple signatures required on all requests for distributions)

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all expenditures, submitting reports periodically to the SAC President and Dean of Student Affairs.

4. Social Chairperson

  • Organize Student Networking Events and Activities

  • Market student events

  • Serve as a member of the election committee

  • Publicize any events for SAC and serve as liaison to all business school publications
