Plug-ins

Plug-ins are small additions to your browser that allow you to view or hear content that would otherwise be inaccessible. If you download the plug-ins below, you should be able to see almost any web content. They're all free to download from their respective makers.

Adobe Acrobat Reader: You'll find a lot of documents on the Web that require this plug-in to see certain documents, including reserve items at the library.
Macromedia Flash Player: This plug-in lets you see certain web graphics and animation. Some sites don't work unless you have it installed.

Java: A plug-in that allows small programs to be run on your computer from the Internet. Most recent web browsers include Java, but it may be turned off. An easy way to see if it is working is to check your Fordham e-mail (it uses Java). If it doesn't work, you may need to turn Java on.

Quicktime: This plug-in allows you to watch videos and hear audio over the web. It comes with all Macintoshes and many Windows PCs. To see if you have it, just try to watch any of the videos at Apple's web site.
