How to Download
"Downloading" a file simply means to copy it from the Internet onto your own
computer. Whether you have a Macintosh or a PC, it's a simple process.
For example, let's go through the process of downloading Adobe Acrobat- it's
a plug-in that allows you to view certain documents online (including reserve
materials from the library).
1. Find the file you want to download.
Adobe Acorbat can be downloaded here
(this link will open in a new window, so you can continue to read this tutorial).
2. Follow the instuctions on the site.
In this case, that means filling out the form on the bottom of the page. Make
sure you select your operating system (i.e. Windows 98, Mac Os 9, etc.). Then
click on the Download button.

3. Save the File
After you click download, a dialog box will pop up (it
may look slightly different in your browser):

Choose "Save," then click OK. The computer will then ask you where
to save the file. It doesn't really matter where you save on your hard drive,
but make sure you remember where you saved it. To make the file really
easy to find, you can just save it on your computer's desktop. When you click
OK, the file will begin downloading (this may take a while depending on the speed of your connection and the sixe of the file being downloaded).
4. Install the Program
Close your web browser, and find the file you just downloaded. Double click
it, then follow instuctions given on screen. When you're done, you can delete
the orginal file you downloaded.
