On-Campus Internet Access
Wired Access (Ethernet)
The Quinn Library, the third floor lounge, and some classrooms have high-speed
Internet connections. To use them, you need a network interface card (NIC),
available on campus at CompuRam (down
the hall from the bookstore). It cost between $30 and $100, depending on your
computer. Once you have a NIC card follow these
instuctions to access the Internet (although these instuctions are from
the library, connecting anywhere else on campus is the same).
Wireless Access (WiFi)
How would you like to surf the World Wide Web from Edwards Parade
at Rose Hill or check your e-mail from the cafeteria at Lincoln
Center? Well now you can! Thanks to the efforts of the IT staff,
wireless technology is now live at Fordham University. You can attach a wireless card to
your laptop or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and connect to
the Internet, bringing mobility to the workplace and the academic
life of Fordham University faculty, staff and students. The
Fordham wireless LAN service utilizes the 802.11B wireless LAN
standard and can be accessed from any mobile computing device
equipped with a wireless LAN adapter that states its compliance
with the WiFi Ethernet standard. Use of the wireless network
requires registration and authentication using your Fordham
University Lotus Notes account and a password of your choosing.

wireless initiative at Fordham please visit the wireless web site:
