GBA Alumni Association Annual Meeting

| GBA Alumni Association Annual Meeting a Success! Excitement was in the air along with a sense of camaraderie as the GBA Alumni Association (GBAAA) hosted its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 16, 1999. Alumni, both old and new, gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the Alumni Association over the past year, elect the group's new leaders for the 1999-2001 term and hear a keynote address from our own Dean, Ernest J. Scalberg. Joe Campagna, GBA '94 and President of the GBAAA, kicked off the formal remarks with a re-cap of GBAAA accomplishments for the 1998-1999 year. These included a number of successful events (e.g., Wine Tasting at the Princeton Club, an Auction, the Annual Meeting), a revised Constitution and Bylaws, a Phase I - GBAAA Database and alumni association participation in GBA's re-accreditation process. Following Joe's remarks Dean Scalberg delivered the keynote address in which he highlighted GBA's progress toward achieving its goal of becoming a school of international distinction. In outlining GBA's successes to date the Dean referenced our recent U.S. News & World Report ranking's: 67 th overall (1999) and 14 th in part-time education (1998) as well as some of the school's new academic programs such as the Transnational MBA program and the Beijing International Management program in Beijing China. The Dean also underscored the critical role alumni play in helping the school to achieve its goals and encouraged the attendees to support the Business School by serving as career advisors or mentors for students, referring applicants to GBA, hiring student interns and graduates, serving as active members of the GBA Alumni Association and making financial contributions to the school. Immediately after the Dean's remarks, John Santos, GBA '92 and Secretary of the GBAAA announced the winner's of the election and congratulated them on their achievement. The new GBAAA leaders for 1999-2001 are: Officers President: Joseph Campagna, GBA '94 Vice President, Beverly Mack, GBA '91 Treasurer, Susan Dolan, GBA '92 Secretary, Ravi Chandran, GBA '99 Directors Cathy Boyle, GBA '93 Laurie Dellaero, GBA '93 Rich Hall, GBA ' 72 Gloria Hendrix, GBA '75 Debbie Jones, GBA '98 Michael Kiernan, GBA '93 Barry Malter, GBA '97 Brendan McCarthy, GBA '94 Megan Travers, GBA '93 Following John's announcements Ilene Anesini, Director, GBA Alumni Affairs, thanked the outgoing GBAAA Board for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments over the last year and invited them to stay involved with the Alumni Association and the school. Ms. Anesini also welcomed the new GBAAA Board and stated how much she is looking forward to working with them on developing and implementing a variety of alumni programs. Finally, Joe Campagna concluded the remarks with an overview of the GBAAA "Vision 2000" which includes building GBAAA membership through increased events, conducting an alumni needs analysis, optimizing the organization's financial resources and developing a five year strategic plan. All in all the GBAAA produced a very successful Annual meeting, with lots more exciting programs to come in the future!!
