Email via Outlook
Since many of our students prefer to use Outlook as their email
program, we have included these instructions on how to configure
Outlook to work with the Fordham Email system. However, please note that the university does not provide support for students using Outlook, and you can no longer send email from Outlook using Fordham's server. If you have another POP3 email account, you can use that account's outgoing server to send emails from your Fordham account.
1) Launch Outlook Express
2) Click on Tools > Accounts
3) Click Add > Mail
4) Put in your name where it asks you, then click Next
5) Check 'I already have an email address that I'd like to use' - and enter
your own fordham Email (ex: laitamaki@fordham.edu , richtenburg@fordham.edu
) which is usually your last name @ fordham.edu - Click Next
6) My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
7) Incoming mail server is: pop-(the first initial of your last name).fordham.edu
(ex: for laitamaki you would use L - so pop-l.fordham.edu)
8) Determining you account name is the tricky part - it is not simply your
last name. The best way to accomplish this is to log into your Fordham e-mail
account using a browser.
When you log into your email account using your browser and click on "New
Memo," your account name will be displayed on the top left corner as shown
above. You must enter the same account name including all caps and punctuation.

9) Enter your password - which is the same as the password you use to log
into the mail system. Its usually good to click save password as well - if your
like me and cant keep track of all your passwords.
10) Click Finish
11) After your account has been created - you may choose to make this your
default email account - this means that when you click 'send / receive ' it
will always check this account. To do this simply click on your Fordham email
account and highlight it - then click 'Set as defualt'.
